Basic facts about Turkey

Some basic facts about Turkey:

1. Location: Turkey is a transcontinental country located mainly on the Anatolian Peninsula in Western Asia, with a smaller portion on the Balkan Peninsula in Southeastern Europe. It is bordered by eight countries: Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest, Georgia to the northeast, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Iran to the east, and Iraq and Syria to the south.
2. Capital: Ankara is the capital city.
3. Largest City: Istanbul, historically known as Constantinople and Byzantium, is Turkey’s largest city and its economic and cultural center.
4. Official Language: Turkish is the official language of Turkey.
5. Population: As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Turkey had a population of around 84 million people. Please note that this number may have changed since then.
6. Government: Turkey is a republic with a democratic and secular constitution. It has a parliamentary system of government.
7. President: Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
8. Currency: The currency of Turkey is the Turkish Lira (TRY).
9. Religion: The majority of the population in Turkey is Muslim, with Islam being the predominant religion. However, Turkey is a secular state, and there is freedom of religion.
